Read with Me! Book 4 - Sheep in a Jeep

Sheep in a Jeep by Nancy Shaw

Tonight we read Sheep in a Jeep for the first time in about a year. It's amazing how different it seemed! It was a cute book with a one year old, but a great book with my two and a half year old. My daughter seemed to enjoy the silliness of sheep driving and problem solving during various situations. Our bedtime routine was a little bit different tonight, we are visiting my parents so we are in a new location with new noises, but as soon as we started reading the story she was engrossed in the story!

The language concepts in this book are great!  The concepts that could be addressed are

Synonyms: leap/jump, push/shove, tug/pull, yelp/shout, steer/drive, weep/cry, heap/pile

New vocabulary: steep, leap, grunt, shrug, yelp, cheer, heap, weep, heap, cheap

Problem solving: how to make the jeep go, the jeep stuck in the mud, they can't get it out of the mud, the jeep has a crash

Rhyming words: beep/sheep/jeep/steep/leap/deep/heap/weep/cheep
oh/go, grunt/front, thud/mud, tug/shrug, yelp/help, out/shout, cheer/steer

I wish I had more time today to tell you about all of the great things about this book, but since we are on vacation, I'll encourage you to check out my pinterest page for more ideas and activities that go along with Sheep in a Jeep!
