Identify the Signs

Welcome!
You can Identify the Signs
of Early Communication Disorders, too.

Here you will find information on how to Identify the Signs of early communication disorders. I have decided to join with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) in their campaign to help parents identify these signs. Please join me in learning more about the signs!

Did you know that in a recent study, 64% of parents are unaware of the warning signs of early communication disorders? That percentage stunned me! Please, learn the signs so that you can know if your child needs help. Learning what to look for will help you know if you need to pursue therapy, or if your child is on track!

If you do determine that your child needs help, please know that early detection and treatment will help keep costs lower and decrease the time spent in treatment. For more information about the campaign including the supporting research visit www.identifythesigns.org.

To see information on the signs, typical development of these skills, what you can do at home and red flags to watch out for see the following links:

If your child demonstrates any of the red flags or seems to be behind on his communication development, please talk with your pediatrician about your specific concerns and seek out a professional Speech Language Pathologist in your area. If you are in the Central Florida area, feel free to contact me. If you are not or are looking for more resources, the American Speech-Language Hearing Association has a pro-search feature. Check that out here.
